Voting FAQ
The Miele Guide 2012/2013
What is the Miele Guide?
The Miele Guide is a guide to Asia’s best restaurants. The 2012/2013 edition will be published in October 2012 and will be available online and in bookstores worldwide. The past two editions are currently available online and at major bookstores across Asia.
Which countries are being evaluated by The Miele Guide?
The 2012/2013 edition will evaluate restaurants in 18 Asian countries—Brunei, Cambodia, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
What does voting do?
The restaurants that appear in The Miele Guide are not being selected in an arbitrary, secretive manner. There are four transparent and rigorous rounds of judging (read more). An invited panel of Asia’s top food critics has helped us put together a shortlist of what they believe are the best restaurants in the region. Then online voting gives the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite restaurants, with the option of nominating restaurants that may be missing from the list. Voting lets food lovers like you play a part in deciding which restaurants in Asia are featured in the guide.
What is special jury voting? Who are the special jury members? How can I become one?
A separate round of voting is conducted among a selected jury of respected foodies and food and wine professionals. You can become a member of the special jury only if you’ve received an invitation from us.
What do I need to do to vote?
Register to vote with a valid email address. You will then receive an email verification link that you will have to click before you can proceed with the voting.
Why do I need to register with my personal information in order to vote?
Due to the nature of The Miele Guide and the voting system, it is of the utmost importance that we take necessary measures to discourage fraudulent accounts and multiple voting so as to safeguard against any attempts to game the system. We take great pride in the authenticity and reliability of the voting process, and will disqualify any attempt at fraud and misuse. We take your privacy very seriously and will never abuse your personal information, email address, and contact number.
In a nutshell, how does the voting work?
One email address, one contact number, one voter. Each voter gets 10 votes. Voters living in any of the 18 Asian countries surveyed by The Miele Guide will be allowed to vote for a maximum of 3 restaurants in their countries of residence. All other votes should be cast for restaurants outside of their home-countries. Voters can only vote for any one restaurant once. Voters also have the option to nominate restaurants that may be missing from the shortlist.
Why should I vote?
If you’re as passionate about food and about Asia as we are, here is your chance to play a part in helping shape the first truly credible and independent restaurant guide devoted to Asia. Your vote counts and goes a long way in determining the restaurants that will make it to the guide.
Additionally, every voter gets to pre-order the guide at a discounted price.
