The 5-Day Challenge to Your Best Year Ever

  • December 12, 2020
  • Ferry Madden

Ask any successful person to tell you one of their success secrets, and they will likely tell you that it’s planning for each with the expectation that it will be their best year ever.

So, do you want to make this year your best year ever? Take this 5-day challenge to make it a reality. All it takes is 5 simple steps that you complete over 5 days.

Don’t be deceived by their simplicity. They will require some deep reflection on your part. But they will also be powerfully transformative when it some to how you approach your life goals.

Day 1: Believe in the possibility

Each one of us has a life goal with which we want to culminate our successes. It could be attaining a certain corporate or political position, achieving great wealth or just retiring comfortably.

Whatever your life goal is, you need to believe – truly believe – that it’s possible. Just hoping that it’s possible will never give you the same motivation and self-confidence to go after it.

Your first day’s challenge is to identify your life goal and reflect on why you believe it’s possible, and that you completely believe that it’s possible.

Your goal may not be possible to achieve in the near future but you need to make sure that your life is ultimately geared towards that goal.

When planning for the current year, identify what you need to achieve to bring you closer to your life goal. It could be saving a certain sum of money on a yearly basis. It could be earning a degree or developing a new skill.

Above all, believe that it’s possible!

Day 2: Tie up the loose ends

On day two, you will reflect on things that were left unfinished from the previous year. The goal is to bring these things to closure so that you start the new year with a clean slate.

Loose ends could be unpaid debts, unfinished projects or simply stabilizing your finances. It’s not a good idea to let these loose ends overflow into the new year and crowd your life.

Day 3: Design your year ahead

On this day, you will reflect on the main goals you want to achieve in the coming year. Be specific: I want to get a promotion. I want to save $5,000. I want to graduate with honors.

Remember, these are the big yearly goals that you need to achieve to bring you closer to your life goal.

Take time to deeply reflect on what is most important for you to achieve. It could be one major goal or three to four smaller ones. Just make sure that you are realistic and don’t take on more than you can handle.

Day 4: Design your roadmap

To achieve your yearly goals, you need to have a series of milestones or a roadmap in place. These milestones could be a weekly task list or even one daily task. For example, if you’re an author and are looking to publish your book by the end of the year, you may have a daily milestone of writing for one hour every morning or completing a chapter every week.

Designing your roadmap is a totally personalized activity. There are no fixed rules or framework – only whatever works best for you.

 Day 5: Go for it

The last day’s challenge is to review all of the decisions and plans of the previous four days, and make any required tweaks or changes. That’s it! Make the intention to have the best year ever and go for it!

Conclusion

The most prominent trait of highly successful people is that they know what they want and set out to achieve it. The 5-day best year ever challenge helps you organize your thoughts and priorities to successfully pursue your own goals.

It’s done over a period of five days to allow you to carefully reflect on what you need to do before putting it all into action. I think you’ll agree that five days’ worth of serious brainstorming in exchange for a year of outstanding success is a pretty fair deal!
